We invite authors to submit full and short papers on original and unpublished work. Papers may be submitted through easychair submissions. Submitted papers should be organized in AAAI proceedings format. Full papers should not exceed 6 pages. Extended abstracts and work in progress papers should not exceed 3 pages. Submissions will be judged on their technical merit and the potential to generate discussion and collaborations. Submission of a paper indicates the willingness of at least one author to register for the symposium and present the paper.
The symposium will focus on a variety of topics that address the physical, cognitive, emotion and social challenges of healthy aging. These include application of novel AI techniques in the following areas (but not restricted to):
1. Rehabilitation systems
2. Persuasive technology for health aging
3. Cognitive orthotics systems
4. Physiological change/anomaly detection
5. Socialization & emotional wellbeing in aging population
6. Medication adherence
7. Activity and behavior monitoring
8. Emergency situation detection
9. Privacy preservation
10. Evaluation mechanisms
11. Position papers on challenges faced by the caregiving and nursing community.
Some of the fundamental questions that we expect to be presented in this venue are, but not limited to: What AI techniques support gerontechnology problems? What are the solutions for improving the generalization of these systems to support wide scale deployment and use? What are the challenges and potential solutions for collecting data in such settings? What are the strategies for benchmarking the results of various sensorial approaches? How we can deal with sparsely annotated activity data by using background knowledge? How privacy preserving models can be developed in such settings?
